Yoga as a somatic practice with Lisan Bremmers
The invitation is to slow down, drop into the body and to move with ease from the inside out.
Ready to reconnect?
"You didn't come into this world.
You came out of it,
like a wave from the ocean.
You are not a stranger here."
Alan Watts
In today’s high-tech, fast-paced and uncertain world we loose touch with our own natural rhythm and we’re becoming more disembodied than ever. I believe it’s time to reclaim our birthright and start to connect with ourselves, each-other and the natural world from a deeper sense of belonging again.
No matter what age or shape you are in, your body is calling you home. Through the practice of yoga we meet with earth, gravity and space and we reconnect with the life force that runs through our veins.
Your sensing, feeling, moving soma
In Greek, the word soma means something like 'the body living in its wholeness’.
Your body is unique, shaped by your cultural and personal history. As we move through life we all get to deal with injury, trauma and sickness. As a result we get cut off from our bodies and start to hold ourselves more stiffly; physically, and often mentally and emotionally as well. Luckily, the body also has an enormous power for healing, especially when we meet it with kindness. So, can we remain or perhaps become open and curious again, as we meet the challenges that life throws at us?
Let’s see…
The practice starts with simply tuning in, moving slow and taking the time to listen to sensation. We begin to work with the system and not against it, so that the nervous system can relax and over time, the body-mind connection restored.
From here we’ll find our way back to the experience of pleasure in sensing, feeling and moving the body from within.
It’s from this state of well-being and feeling connected to one’s self that the body can release old holding patterns of stiffness and pain. We soften and open and start to move with more ease and joy.
"There is another alphabet, whispering from every leaf, singing from every river, shimmering from every sky."
Dejan Stojanovic
“Yoga must not be practiced to control the body: it is the opposite, it must bring freedom to the body, all the freedom it needs.”
Vanda Scaravelli
